Quick Fix?

Let’s be honest, there are a lot of fad diets out there on the market. However, do any of these really work.

Quick answer: NO

Why don’t they work? The majority of your fad diets are very restrictive on one or more macronutrient. Macronutrients are carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Our body uses each macronutrient differently to sustain daily living. Limiting one or more macronutrient alerts how our body functions on a day to day basis.

For example, Keto diet uses fat as the main source of energy limiting our carbohydrate intake. What does this do to the body? This alerts the chemical properties of our brain. Keto was originally designed to help manage epilepsy in children. Let that one sink in. Is weight loss so important that we change how our brain functions? Are you able to with stand this for a lifetime?

Honestly, the reason why fad diets continue to not work time and time again is the fact they are not withstand able. We are not able to maintain restrictive eating over time. Our world and culture revolve around food. Tell me the last time you hung out with friends or family and did not have food involved? You probably are having a hard time answering that question.

Secondly, when you fall off the wagon, these diets make you feel like a complete failure. How is this healthy? Let’s be honest it is not healthy to have negative feelings toward food. This can lead to further issues such as disorder eating patterns.

All in all, there is no quick fix when it comes to weight loss. We need a balanced diet with carbohydrates, fats, and proteins that allows all foods to fit in a plan. This helps you to have the most successful outcomes.
