Getting Back On Track

Do you have a goal that you have stopped focusing on? Do you want to get back on track? Here are my top 3 tips to get back on track.

  1. Review your goal:

I see this all the time people write an unrealistic goal for their lifestyle. Every goal should be something that is attainable for you. If weight loss is your goal trying to lose 10lbs in a month is not attainable. However, maybe rewriting your goal to be “I want to lose 10lbs in the next 10 weeks, by going to the gym 3x per week for 30 minutes and by limiting my soda intake from 5 sodas per day down to 1 soda per day.” This could be a very attainable goal. Your first step should always be to revisit and review your goals.

2.Refresh your why

I see this all the time with clients the original goal had a short duration such as losing weight for a family reunion. Once the family reunion passes they return back to their old habits and get off track. I encourage you to dig deep and find your personal why that goes deeper than just a short term event. For example, maybe you want to be a good remodel for your children. Now you got a why that you can continue for a long time with several different options.

To find your personal why I suggest getting a sheet of paper and writing down every idea that comes to you for at least 5 minutes. After 5 minutes look at the list and prioritize which options are most important to you. From their start to formulate your goals on how you will achieve theses why’s.

3.Plan out your week:

The easiest way to fail at your goal is to have no plan! Sit down at the start of every week and map out the week on a calendar. If increasing your physical activity is your goal schedule your time into your day. You are less likely to cancel on an appointment with yourself. If eating healthy is your goal map out your dinners for the week at the start of the week. Prep anything that you can before the week to set yourself up for success.
